Prophet Muhammad was born in Makkah, where most people didn’t believe in one God but worshipped many idols. Life was hard because there was a lot of unfairness and unkindness. But Prophet Muhammad stood out. He was known for his honesty and trustworthiness, earning him the nicknames Al-Sadiq (the Truthful) and Al-Amin (the Trustworthy).
When he was forty years old, Allah chose him as a Prophet. Even though the people of Makkah who worshipped many gods mistreated him and his followers for a long time, they didn’t stop following Islam. After teaching in Makkah for thirteen years, he moved to Madinah to continue spreading his message.
Since the time of Prophet Muhammad, Islam has been growing quickly. It’s now the second most followed religion in the world. Allah loves Prophet Muhammad and his family the most, and Prophet Muhammad always followed Allah’s orders.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) epitomized selflessness in every facet of his life, dedicating each moment to the service of Allah. His unwavering devotion to the Almighty transcended personal interests, guiding his actions and decisions.
The depth of Prophet Muhammad’s selflessness is illustrated in the historical account of his preaching in the valley of Taif. Despite facing hostility and cruelty from the people of Taif, who pelted him with stones, he remained steadfast in his mission. His face bloodied, he sought not retribution but forgiveness for his assailants, praying:
” O God! Forgive my people, for they know not! “
[Bukhari]
This profound incident underscores Prophet Muhammad’s remarkable resilience and magnanimity, exemplifying his unwavering commitment to Allah’s cause.
Throughout his life, Prophet Muhammad prioritized the well-being of others above his own comfort and safety. His selfless actions, guided by divine love and compassion, serve as a timeless example for humanity.
He had the best manners of all
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) showed us how to be truly kind and polite in every situation. His actions were always filled with respect and consideration for others, setting a perfect example for everyone to follow.
One of his companions once said:
” The Prophet didn’t use bad words or be mean to anyone. Even when he had to correct someone, he did it gently, saying, ‘What’s wrong with him? May he get dust on his face! “
[Bukhari]
This shows how Prophet Muhammad always chose his words carefully and never spoke harshly to anyone, even when correcting them.
His teachings emphasize the importance of good manners in Islam. In the Quran, Allah says:
” And indeed, you are of a great moral character. “
(Surah Al-Qalam 68:4)
This verse highlights Prophet Muhammad’s exceptional character, which serves as a guide for all Muslims.
Aisha, the beloved wife of the Prophet, once described his impeccable mannerisms, saying:
“The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) never used foul language or behaved inappropriately.”
(Sahih Muslim)
This Hadith showcases Prophet Muhammad’s impeccable behavior and dignified speech, reflecting his unparalleled character.
Prophet Muhammad : The Most Generous Man
Generosity defined Prophet Muhammad’s character. He epitomized selflessness, always putting others’ needs before his own. His companions say he never hesitated to give whenever someone asked. This generosity wasn’t just about giving things, but also about being kind and helping those who needed it.
In Surah Al-Insan (76:9), Allah praises the believers who share their food even when they need it themselves, reflecting Prophet Muhammad’s belief in giving to others. Also, the Hadith literature tells many stories about his generosity, showing how much he cared about helping people.
Even before receiving his prophethood, Prophet Muhammad was known for his generosity. His wife, Khadija, highlighted his virtues, including his compassion, honesty, and support for the vulnerable. Despite facing hostility and oppression, Prophet Muhammad responded with kindness and generosity, even towards his enemies.
One remarkable example is when he was attacked in the streets of Taif and instead of seeking retribution, he prayed for the well-being of his attackers.
Kind to the kids
Prophet Muhammad was incredibly kind and gentle with children. He delighted in their company and often played games with them to bring joy to their hearts. An endearing example from his life is when he would announce a gift for the first child to reach him, sparking races as they eagerly climbed onto his back and chest, as narrated in Ahmad’s Hadith collection. This affectionate treatment of children is just one instance among many where he emphasized the importance of love and care towards them.
In Surah Al-Furqan:
“The ˹true˺ servants of the Most Compassionate are those who walk on the earth humbly, and when the foolish address them ˹improperly˺, they only respond with peace.”
(25:63)
This verse reflects Prophet Muhammad’s teachings of kindness and patience, traits he demonstrated in his interactions with children and adults alike.
He Respected And Cared For Women
Prophet Muhammad’s compassion extended to women as well. Contrary to misconceptions, he upheld the rights of women and encouraged his followers to treat them with respect and equality.
In a Hadith recorded in Sahih Muslim,
“He, who brought up two girls properly till they grew up, he and I would come (together) (very closely) on the Day of Resurrection, and he interlaced his fingers (for explaining the point of nearness between him and that person).”
(2631)
This emphasis on raising daughters showcases his deep care for women and their rightful place in society.
Prophet Muhammad’s care for women was not limited to words alone; he exemplified it in his actions. He would lovingly feed his wives with his own hands, considering even the act of providing food as a form of charity, as narrated in various Hadith collections. This act symbolized his devotion and respect towards his wives, highlighting his belief in the importance of nurturing relationships based on love and kindness.
Prophet Muhammad’s Modesty
Prophet Muhammad’s modesty shines brightly as a defining trait of his character. He embodied humility in every aspect of his life, shunning vulgarity and encouraging modesty among his followers. In a Hadith, he emphasized the importance of modesty, stating:
“Modesty is a part of the teachings of the previous Prophets, and anyone who lacks it is most likely to do whatever he likes.”
[Sahih Al-Bukhari]
His actions spoke volumes about his modesty. While his companions carried one sun-dried block each during the construction of a mosque in Madina, Prophet Muhammad humbly carried two. Similarly, when digging a trench to protect Madina, he bound two stones around his stomach, matching the sacrifices of his companions.
Prophet Muhammad’s humility extended beyond words to actions. He performed household chores, mended his clothes, and helped his wives with their tasks, despite his elevated status. His humility was not a sign of weakness but a testament to his devotion to God. He humbly acknowledged that his entry into Paradise depended solely on the mercy of God, teaching us that true greatness lies in humility before the Creator.
He Had No Interest in Worldly Wealth
He prioritized serving others and fulfilling the purpose of Allah over worldly possessions. His disinterest in material wealth was evident in his actions, as he generously gave whatever he had to those in need, without seeking anything in return.
In (Qur’an 2: 261),
“Allah highlights the importance of charity and generosity, emphasizing that those who give for the sake of Allah’s pleasure will receive manifold rewards.”
This verse reflects Prophet Muhammad’s ethos of selfless giving and detachment from worldly wealth.
A telling example of Prophet Muhammad’s detachment from material possessions is narrated by his companion in Sahih Al-Bukhari.
“The companion describes how the Prophet left behind no gold, silver, or slaves upon his death, only a white mule, weapons, and land declared as charity.”
This anecdote underscores the Prophet’s indifference towards accumulating wealth and his focus on using resources to benefit others.
Prophet Muhammad’s simple lifestyle further illustrates his lack of interest in worldly wealth. He ate modest meals, often consisting of grain bread or a small portion of food dipped in milk. His companions noted that his stomach was never filled with food, highlighting his contentment with simple sustenance.
Prophet Muhammad’s life serves as a timeless example of selflessness and detachment from worldly desires, inspiring believers to prioritize service to others and the pursuit of spiritual wealth over material riches.
Merciful
Allah (SWT) epitomizes mercy and compassion. Likewise, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the final messenger sent by Allah, embodies these divine qualities. He speaks only what Allah wills, acts in accordance with Allah’s love, and holds a special place in Allah’s affection.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stands out as the most merciful leader in history. Despite facing adversity and hostility, he never sought vengeance or harmed his adversaries, demonstrating unparalleled mercy. For instance, after the Battle of Uhud, where he was injured, he prayed for forgiveness for his attackers, saying,
“Oh Allah, forgive my people for they do not know.”
Leniency
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was incredibly forgiving during his life. He never punished or forced anyone to become Muslim. Instead, he urged people to join Islam by their own choice. He never wanted to hurt anyone, no matter what they did.
Once, some of Prophet Muhammad’s companions came to him upset about a tribe called the Duas. They wouldn’t accept Islam, and his companions wanted him to pray against them. But instead of cursing them, Prophet Muhammad raised his hands in prayer and said,
“O Allah, guide the tribe of Daws and bring them to me.”
[Bukhari 4392, Muslim 2524]
Honesty
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was known for his honesty, making him the most trustworthy person. Even people who didn’t believe in his message trusted him completely. They felt safe giving him their things because they knew he would never deceive them.
One of his wives said that the Prophet (peace be upon him) really didn’t like lying. If someone lied in front of him, he would be upset with them until they admitted their mistake. This dedication to telling the truth earned him respect, even from those who opposed him.
Abu Jahl, who strongly disagreed with Islam, once said,
[Tirmidhi 1973]
“Muhammad, I don’t think you’re a liar; I just don’t agree with what you’re saying.”
Allah also confirms in the Quran that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) always spoke the truth. Even though some people might say hurtful things about him, Allah knows that he’s honest and trustworthy. [6:33]
Humbleness
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was incredibly humble. He blended in so well with his companions that if someone walked into the mosque and asked who Muhammad was, they wouldn’t be able to pick him out from the group.
Anas bin Malik shared a story about being with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the mosque.
“ A man arrived on a camel, tied it up, and then asked who Muhammad was. Even though the Prophet was sitting with his companions, he didn’t stand out. Anas and his friends pointed to the Prophet, who was just sitting on the ground like everyone else.”
The Prophet was always there to help those in need, like the weak, the poor, and widows. Anas bin Malik remembered a woman from Medina who came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) asking for help, even though she was partially mentally unstable. He kindly listened to her and made sure she got what she needed.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is highly respected by Mu
slims worldwide. He brought Islam to humanity and showed us how to be better people.
We should all look up to him and strive to follow his teachings.
